Betagan Eye Drop
Betagan Eye Drop a non-selective beta blocker, is used for treating open angle type glaucoma and other eye diseases such as ocular hypertension. It works by reducing the amount of fluid production within the eye thereby lowering the pressure and preventing blindness.
Betagan Eye Drop is available in two concentrations i.e. 2.5 Mg/ml and 5 Mg/ml and should be used one or twice daily in the affected eye. The patient must not use other topical ophthalmic beta-adrenergic blocking drugs along with Betagan Eye Drop drug.The common side effects of Betagan Eye Dropinclude burning sensation of the eye, drainage form the eye, itching, swelling or redness of the eye or eyelid, blurred vision, confusion, dizziness and others.

How to take
Ask your doctor or pharmacist to show you the correct way to instill the eye drops. Betagan Eye Drop medication is for external use only. Do not touch the dropper tip to any surface, since Betagan Eye Drop may contaminate the solution. Protect the medication from light and excessive heat. Discard any unused solution after the end of the treatment period.

Side effects
The following adverse reactions have been reported rarely with the use of Betagan Eye Drop iridocyclitis, headache, transient ataxia, dizziness, lethargy, urticaria, and pruritus.
Decreased corneal sensitivity has been noted in a small number of patients. Although levobunolol has minimal membrane-stabilizing activity, there remains a possibility of decreased corneal sensitivity after prolonged use.
The following additional adverse reactions have been reported either with Betagan Eye Dropophthalmic solution or ophthalmic use of other beta-adrenergic receptor blocking agents:
Warning
As with other topically applied ophthalmic drugs, Betagan Eye Dropmay be absorbed systemically. The same adverse reactions found with systemic administration of beta-adrenergic blocking agents may occur with topical administration. For example, severe respiratory reactions and cardiac reactions, including death due to bronchospasm in patients with asthma, and rarely death in association with cardiac failure, have been reported with topical application of beta-adrenergic blocking agents
Uses
The recommended dose of levobunolol eye drops is 1 drop of levobunolol 0.5% once or twice a day in the affected eye. Doses greater than 1 drop twice daily have not been found to be any more effective.
