Aldactone 100 Mg Tablet is a diuretic which is used to control high blood pressure and edema. It is usually taken once daily, preferably in the daytime to prevent sleep disturbances. Frequent monitoring of blood pressure and electrolytes level is necessary.

Aldactone 100 Mg Tablet is a potassium-sparing diuretic. It lowers blood pressure and swelling by removing the extra water and electrolytes from the body without loss of potassium.

Aldactone 100 Mg Tablet is used to treat conditions of high blood pressure, heart failure, edema and low potassium levels. This medicine is also used to cure a condition where too much aldosterone (hormone) is produced by the adrenal glands. This hormone is responsible for maintaining the salt and water balance in the body.

How To Take

Take Aldactone 100 Mg in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Aldactone 100 Mg Tablet is to be taken with food.

Take this medication by mouth, as directed by your doctor. If stomach upset occurs, take it with food or milk. It is best to take your dose early in the day (before 6 p.m.) to prevent having to get up during the night to urinate. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions.

If you are using the liquid form of this medication, shake the bottle well before each dose. Carefully measure the dose using a special measuring device/spoon. Do not use a household spoon because you may not get the correct dose. You may take the liquid form of this medication with or without food, but it is important to choose one way and take it the same way with every dose.

Dosage is based on your medical condition and response to therapy. In children, the dosage is also based on body weight.

Warning

It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Aldactone 100 Mg Tablet. Spironolactone and alcohol may have additive effects in lowering your blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate.

Aldactone 100 Mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.

Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.

Aldactone 100 Mg Tablet is safe to use during lactation. Human studies have shown that either the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in significant amount or is not expected to cause toxicity to the baby.

Aldactone 100 Mg Tablet may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.

Aldactone 100 Mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Aldactone 100 Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

Use of Aldactone 100 Mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease.

There is limited information available on the use of Aldactone 100 MgTablet in patients with liver disease. Please consult your doctor.

Uses

Aldactone 100 Mg Tablet is used in the treatment of Primary Hyperaldosteronism which is a hormonal disorder that causes an increase in the blood pressure.

Aldactone 100 Mg Tablet is used in the treatment of congestive heart failure by preventing the water reabsorption.

Aldactone 100 Mg Tablet is used in the treatment of hypertension by inhibiting the water reabsorption and reduces the blood volume.

Aldactone 100 Mg Tablet is used in the treatment of hypokalemia by increasing the potassium levels.
