Aldactone 25 Mg Tablet is a diuretic which is used to control high blood pressure and edema. It is usually taken once daily, preferably in the daytime to prevent sleep disturbances. Frequent monitoring of blood pressure and electrolytes level is necessary.

Aldactone 25 Mg Tablet is used to treat conditions of high blood pressure, heart failure, edema and low potassium levels. This medicine is also used to cure a condition where too much aldosterone (hormone) is produced by the adrenal glands. This hormone is responsible for maintaining the salt and water balance in the body.

On using Aldactone 25 Mg Tablet, you might experience the following side-effects; dryness of the mouth, dizziness, headache, erectile dysfunction, drowsiness, fatigue, an increase in hair growth and enlargement of the breast in men and breast soreness in women. Severe side effects include blood in the urine, clouded thoughts, constipation, numbness, chest pain, chills or flu-like symptoms and difficulty in breathing.

How To Take

Take  Aldactone 25 Mg Tablet in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Aldactone 25 Mg Tablet is to be taken with food.

Take this medication by mouth, as directed by your doctor. If stomach upset occurs, take it with food or milk. It is best to take your dose early in the day (before 6 p.m.) to prevent having to get up during the night to urinate. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions.

Warning

It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Aldactone 25 Mg Tablet. Spironolactone and alcohol may have additive effects in lowering your blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate.

Aldactone 25 Mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.

Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.

Aldactone 25 Mg Tablet is safe to use during lactation. Human studies have shown that either the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in significant amount or is not expected to cause toxicity to the baby.

Aldactone 25 Mg Tablet may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.

Aldactone 25 Mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Aldactone 25 Mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

There is limited information available on the use of Aldactone 25 MgTablet in patients with liver disease. Please consult your doctor.

Uses

Aldactone 25 Mg Spironolactone is used to treat high blood pressure and heart failure. Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. It is also used to treat swelling (edema) caused by certain conditions (such as heart failure, liver disease) by removing excess fluid and improving symptoms such as breathing problems.

Aldactone 25 Mg is also used to treat low potassium levels and conditions in which the body is making too much of a natural chemical (aldosterone).
