Duovir Tablet

Duovir Tablet is a combination medicine used to treat human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. This medicine is not a cure for HIV. It only prevents the virus from multiplying in your body. Monitoring of liver function and kidney function may be necessary while receiving this medicine based on the clinical condition of the patient.

Drug = Lamivudine + Zidovudine

Strength = 150 Mg + 300 Mg

How To Take

Take Duovir medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. DuovirTablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Side Effects

Duovirmost commonly reported side effects when taking Duovirinclude: headache, gastrointestinal upset, particularly nausea, also diarrhoea, constipation, stomach pain; dizziness, fatigue, difficulty sleeping, rash, hair loss, muscle and joints aches and pains. A more serious but less common side effect is damage to the liver, severe rash and a condition called lactic acidosis, which may cause pancreatitis, liver failure, or renal failure. Also redistribution/accumulation of body fat can happen.

Warning

Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. Duovirbenefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.

Duovir Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.DuovirTablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of DuovirTablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

Use of DuovirTablet is not recommended in patients withmoderate to severe liver disease. Regular monitoring of liver function tests is advised while you are taking this medicine.
