Tenvir L

Tenvir L Tablet is a nucleoside analogue. It is used in combination with other medications to treat HIV infection. It functions by interfering with the growth of the HIV infection.

On using this medication you may experience side effects such as nausea, joint pain, difficulty sleeping, diarrhea, cough, dizziness, swelling of the mouth, headache, reduced appetite, weakness, vomiting, darkening of the urine, numbness, mental/ mood disorders, ear pain, itchiness, sore throat and chest pain. If your reactions persist or worsen over time seek the help of your health care provider right away.

Before using Tenvir L Tablet medication tell your doctor if; you are allergic to any ingredient contained within Tenvir L Tablet, you are taking any other medications especially emtricitabine and zalcitabine, you have enlarged liver/ high levels of lactic acid/ abnormal liver functioning/ muscle problems/ kidney problems/ lactic acidosis/ nerve disorder/ pancreas problem, you are overweight, you are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant or are nursing a baby.

The dosage for this medication should be based on your medical history and current condition. The usual dose in adults for HIV infection is about 150 mg twice daily or 300 mg once daily.

How To Take

Take Tenvir L Tablet in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Tenvir L Tablet is to be taken with food.

Warnings

Anyone with a creatinine clearance less than 50 ml/min must not take Tenvir L Tablet. Worsening of hepatic symptoms have been documented in patients with hepatitis B after they stopped taking Tenvir L Tablet. For patients with hepatitis C, co-administering interferon alfa and ribavirin with Tenvir L Tablet can heighten risks for hepatic decompensation. Use of didanosine is not recommended when beginning Tenvir L Tablet because it can hinder Tenvir L Tablet effectiveness.
