Flagyl 200 Mg Tablet is an antiprotozoal which helps in treating infections in the stomach, genital areas. Flagyl 200 Mg is not recommended to take with alcohol with Flagyl 200 Mg medicine. Take Flagyl 200 Mg medicine only if it is necessary to reduce the development of resistance.

Flagyl 200 Mg Tablet comes in both capsule and tablet form. The dosage will be prescribed by your doctor determining your age, gender, overall health and the severity of your condition. The usual dosage in adults for a bacterial infection is about 7.5 mg orally every 6 hours over a period of 7-10 days. And if you are taking it by infusion then the advised dose is about 15 mg once for 1 hour daily over a period of 7-10 days as well. Dose for other treatments vary from one person to another. In case of drug overdose, seek medical attention immediately.

How to take

Take Flagyl 200 Mg medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Flagyl 200 Mg is to be taken with food.

Warning

Pregnancy = Flagyl 200 Mg medicine is not recommended in the first trimester of pregnancy to treat bacterial vaginosis and trichomoniasis. Flagyl 200 Mg can be used in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy only if clearly needed.

Breast-feeding = Flagyl 200 Mg medicine is known to excreted through the breastmilk. Flagyl 200 Mg is used in breastfeeding women only if clearly needed. Breastfeeding should be avoided for 24 hours after single-dose maternal treatment. Monitoring of candidal infections and diarrhea is necessary.

Blood cell count = Flagyl 200 Mg medicine may lower the blood cell count and may lead to leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, and bone marrow aplasia. Close monitoring of WBC count, platelets is necessary. Discontinue the treatment if any signs of low blood cell count appear.

Uses

Flagyl 200 Mg is used in the amebiasis which is a parasitic infection that affects the intestine and amebic liver abscess caused by Entamoebahistolytica.

Flagyl 200 Mg is used in the treatment of thomoniasis which is a sexually transmitted disease caused by Trichomonasvaginalis. Flagyl 200 Mg is used to treat infections that may cause after surgery.
