Acivir Cream is an antiviral drug. Acivir Cream is used to treat infections caused by certain types of herpes viruses. However, it is not a cure for these infections. The viruses causing these infections continue to live in the body.Acivir Cream only decreases the length and severity of these outbreaks. Acivir Cream Cream is used to treat cold sores surrounding the mouth, shingles, chickenpox and genital herpes. People, who suffer frequently from this, take the drug to reduce future occurrences.

How To Take

Acivir Cream is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and apply the cream. Wash your hands after applying, unless hands are the affected area.

Pregnancy:- Acivir Cream is recommended for pregnant women. Discuss with your doctor about the potential benefits and risks before deciding to take Acivir Cream medicine.

Breast-feeding:- Acivir Cream is excreted through the breastmilk. Discuss with your doctor about the potential benefits and risks before deciding to take Acivir Cream medicine. Monitoring of any undesired effects is necessary.

Hydration:- Acivir Cream may increase the risk of kidney injury when taken with other medicines that cause kidney injury. Adequate water should be consumed to prevent the accumulation of Acivir Cream medicine.

Impaired kidney function:- Acivir Cream is used with caution in the patients with the severe kidney injury. Suitable dose adjustments are to be made based on the clinical condition.

Elderly population:-Acivir Cream is used with caution in the elderly population with kidney injury or liver injury due to increase in the risk of neurological problems. Dose adjustments are to be made based on the clinical condition.

Pediatric population:- The safety and efficacy of the oral formulation of Acivir Cream has not been established in children less than 2 years of age.

Uses

Acivir Cream is used in the treatment of herpes zoster infection which is a viral infection caused by varicella-zoster virus.
