Sorbitrate 5 Mg

Sorbitrate 5 Mg Tablet is an effective medicine to prevent chest pain (angina) caused due to narrowing of blood vessels that carries blood to the heart. It also decreases the workload on the heart ensuring effective pumping of blood.

Do not use isosorbide dinitrate if you are taking sildenafil (Viagra). Serious, life-threatening side effects can occur if you take isosorbide dinitrate while you are using sildenafil.

Isosorbide dinitrate can cause severe headaches, especially when you first start using it. These headaches may gradually become less severe as you continue to use the medication. Do not stop taking isosorbide dinitrate. Ask your doctor before using any headache pain medication.

How To Take

Take Sorbitrate 5 Mg by mouth, usually 2 to 3 times daily or as directed by your doctor. It is important to take the drug at the same times each day. Do not change the dosing times unless directed by your doctor.

Use Sorbitrate 5 Mg regularly to get the most benefit from it. Do not suddenly stop taking this medication without consulting your doctor. Some conditions may become worse when the drug is suddenly stopped. Your dose may need to be gradually decreased.

Although unlikely, when this medication is used for a long time, it may not work as well and may require different dosing. Tell your doctor if this medication stops working well.

Sorbitrate 5 Mg is not recommended for use by pregnant women unless absolutely necessary and the benefits outweigh the risks involved. Consult your doctor before using this medicine if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy in near future.

Sorbitrate 5 Mg is not recommended for use by women who are breastfeeding. Your doctor may prescribe an alternate medicine or ask you to stop breastfeeding if the medicine has to be used.

Report the incidence of all other diseases of the heart, lung, thyroid, kidney, liver etc to the doctor before receiving this medicine. All these conditions should be taken into consideration to ensure safe and effective use of this medicine.

Use of Sorbitrate 5 Mg can cause a fall in blood pressure in general and may make you feel dizzy especially while getting up from lying or sitting position (Postural hypotension).

The likelihood of development of drug tolerance is very high if this medicine is taken very regularly. A minimal amount of nitrate free time is required to avoid tolerance is 10-12 hr/day. The tolerance developed is in general for nitrates and may affect other medicines containing nitrates (cross-tolerance).

Uses

Sorbitrate 5 Mg is used for the prevention of angina (chest pain) caused due to reduced flow of blood and oxygen to the heart. It is not effective in treating an acute episode of chest pain that has already set in.

Sorbitrate 5 Mg is also used for the treatment of heart failure caused due to failure of bottom left compartment of the heart.
