Metrogyl Gel
Metrogyl Gel is an antiprotozoal which helps in treating infections in the stomach, genital areas. Metrogyl Gel is not recommended to take with alcohol with Metrogyl Gel medicine. Take Metrogyl Gel medicine only if it is necessary to reduce the development of resistance.
Like all medicines there are certain associated side effects with the usage of Metrogyl Gel which are dizziness, headache, upset stomach, abdominal pain, vomiting, nausea, reduced appetite, either diarrhea or constipation, blurred vision, clouded thoughts, fever, irritability, aggression, depression, difficulty speaking and breathing, skin rash or redness, a burning sensation, blisters, sore throat, darkening of the urine, rapid or irregular heartbeat and mouth ulcers to name a few. Should the side effects continue or worsen overtime, contact your health care provider right away.

How to take
Metrogyl Gel medicine is for external use only. Use Metrogyl Gel in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and apply the gel. Wash your hands after applying, unless hands are the affected area.

Warning
Pregnancy = Metrogyl Gel medicine is not recommended in the first trimester of pregnancy to treat bacterial vaginosis and trichomoniasis. Metrogyl Gel can be used in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy only if clearly needed.
Breast-feeding = Metrogyl Gel medicine is known to excreted through the breastmilk. Metrogyl Gel is used in breastfeeding women only if clearly needed. Breastfeeding should be avoided for 24 hours after single-dose maternal treatment. Monitoring of candidal infections and diarrhea is necessary.
Blood cell count = Metrogyl Gel medicine may lower the blood cell count and may lead to leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, and bone marrow aplasia. Close monitoring of WBC count, platelets is necessary. Discontinue the treatment if any signs of low blood cell count appear.
Uses
Metrogyl Gel is used in the amebiasis which is a parasitic infection that affects the intestine and amebic liver abscess caused by Entamoeba histolytica. Metrogyl Gel is used in the treatment of trichomoniasis which is a sexually transmitted disease caused by Trichomonas vaginalis.
