Metolar XR 50 Mg is used to reduce high blood pressure and relieve chest pain caused due to reduced blood flow to the heart. It is also used for treating other complications associated with the heart and blood vessels.

How To Take

Take Metolar XR 50 Mg in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Metolar XR 50 Mg may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Avoid Metolar XR 50 Mg with high-fat meals such as olive oil, nuts & seeds (Brazil nuts), dark chocolate, butter and meat.

Pregnancy :- Metolar XR 50 Mg is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless absolutely necessary. All the risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before taking this medicine.

Breast-feeding :- Metolar XR 50 Mg is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless necessary. All the risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before taking this medicine.

Heart Failure :- Metolar XR 50 Mg decreases cardiac function and reduced flow of blood especially in people having a heart disorder causing heart failure. Suitable dose adjustment and safety monitoring might be required based on the severity of the disease.

Ischemic Heart Disease :- Metolar XR 50 Mg should not be discontinued abruptly in patients with Ischemic heart disease. The dosage should be gradually reduced over a period of 1 to 2 weeks.

Major surgery :- Metolar XR 50 Mg should be given with caution to patients who are going to have a major surgery done. The dose should be very carefully monitored in such cases both before and after the surgical procedure.

Pheochromocytoma :- Metolar XR 50 Mg should be administered with extreme caution in patients suffering from pheochromocytoma, a condition which results in an excess of a substance that controls heartbeat and blood pressure. Appropriate corrective measures, dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition of the patient.

Uses

It is used,

To treat high blood pressure (hypertension).

In the long-term treatment of angina pectoris, to reduce angina attacks and to improve exercise tolerance.

For the treatment of stable, symptomatic heart failure of ischemic, hypertensive or cardiomyopathic origin.

To prevent migraine.
