Eliquis 5 Mg is an oral anticoagulant which helps prevent formation of harmful blood clots. It prevents the formation of blood clots in the legs, lungs, brain and heart. For the best result, take it at the same time every day. It can increase the risk of bleeding, so be careful while shaving, cutting nails, using sharp objects or enganging in contact sports (e.g. football, wresling). Let your doctor know if you see blood in your vomits, urine or stool (black or tarry). Unlike other anticoagulant, regular blood test (PT-INR) is not required while taking this medicine.

How to Take

Take Eliquis 5 Mg in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Eliquis 5 Mgmay be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Side Effects

Easy bruising.

Unusual bleeding or bleeding that won’t stop, including nosebleeds and bleeding gums.

Heavy menstrual periods.

Pink, brown, or red urine.

Black or bloody stools.

Coughing up blood, or vomit that looks like coffee grounds.

Trouble breathing or wheezing.

Severe headache

Interaction with alcohol is unknown. Please consult your doctor.

Eliquis 5 Mg is probably safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.

Eliquis 5 Mg is probably unsafe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby.

Eliquis 5 Mg does not usually affect your ability to drive.

Eliquis 5 Mg should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Eliquis 5 Mg may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

Eliquis 5 Mg should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Eliquis 5 Mg may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Dose adjustment is not needed in patients with the mild liver disease.

Uses

Eliquis 5 mg Tablet is used as prophylaxis to prevent blood clots in the hip and knee replacement surgery patients.

Eliquis 5 mg Tablet is used as prophylaxis to prevent stroke and to help maintain the proper blood flow.

Eliquis 5 mg Tablet is used in the treatment of pulmonary embolism by improving the blood flow in the lungs.
