The medication prevents the growth of various types of fungi by disrupting the production of the membranes that surrounds the fungal cells. How to Take

Uses

Dandrop Lotion (Ketoconazole/Zinc Pyrithione) is a medicated topical lotion which has a wide range of uses. Patients use it to treat dandruff, seborrhoeic dermatitis and pityriasis versicolor, as well as various other conditions. The first ingredient, ketoconazole, is an antifungal which destroys the fungi responsible for causing the infection by interfering with their membranes. In some cases, it is used on its own as a supplement for hair loss treatments. Zinc pyrithione is also added, for its antibacterial and antifungal properties.

Seborrhoeic dermatitis causes a flaky and scaly scalp, and can also affect the ears, chest or back. Doctors believe that a fungus known as malassezia furfur causes these symptoms by infecting the skin. The antifungal properties of this lotion help to treat the infection and prevent the growth and spread of the fungus.
