Acnedap 5% Gel

Acnedap 5% Gel which is also known as diaminodiphenylsulfone or DDS for short, is an antibiotic which is commonly used in combination with rifampicin and clofazimine for the treatment of leprosy. It is also used as a second-line medication for the treatment and prevention of pneumocystis pneumonia and also in the prevention of toxoplasmosis in those patients who have poor immune function.

In addition, it is also used in the treatment of acne, dermatitis herpetiformis, and other various skin related conditions. Acnedap 5% Gel is available both topically and by mouth

How To Take

This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and apply the gel. Wash your hands after applying, unless hands are the affected area.

Warning

Take care to avoid getting the gel in the eyes, mouth or nose. If it happens, rinse it out with plenty of warm water.

Do not apply it on broken, infected or sunburnt areas of skin.

It should not be used in children less than 12 years of age.

Do not use more amount or more often than recommended as that will not make it any more effective but may irritate your skin.

It may cause dryness and itching of the skin being treated. Inform your doctor if this bothers you.

Stop using Acnedap5% Gel and inform your doctor if your lips, nail beds, or the inside of your mouth turns grey or blue.

Uses

Acnedap 5% Gel belongs to a class of drugs called retinoids. It decreases the formation of blackheads and helps to renew skin faster. It helps to heal pimples quicker too by reducing skin inflammation and swelling.
