Primacort Injection is similar to a natural hormone produced in the body which affects many functions in the body. It is used to relieve swelling and pain associated with conditions like arthritis, severe allergies, eczema, psoriasis, etc. It is also used to treat the deficiency of steroidal hormones in the body. It is available as a tablet, an injection, and a cream.

Feeling sick, flushing
Indigestion, stomach ulcer (which can rupture and bleed)
Inflammation of the pancreas causing abdominal pain (pancreatitis)
Thinning of bones which makes fractures more likely (osteoporosis)
Damage to tendons
Joint stiffness causing limited motion, pain and muscle spasms
Fluid retention causing swelling
Feeling depressed, including thinking about suicide
Feeling high (mania) or having moods that go up and down
Feeling anxious, having problems sleeping, having difficulty in thinking or being confused and losing your memory
Feeling, seeing or hearing things which do not exist. having strange and frightening thoughts, changing how you act or having feelings of being alone
Itching or skin rashes
Swelling of the face, lips or throat
Difficulty in breathing or wheeziness
Pregnancy = Primacort Injection may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation = Primacort Injection is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
Driving = Primacort Injection does not usually affect your ability to drive.
Kidney = Primacort Injection is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Primacort Injection is recommended.
However, talk to your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease.
Liver = There is limited information available on the use of Primacort Injection in patients with liver disease. Please consult your doctor.
Primacort Injection is used to treat a condition where the body is not able to produce sufficient amounts of steroidal hormones. This may be caused due to improper functioning of adrenal glands which secrete these hormones or the pituitary gland and the hypothalamus which regulate the hormone release process. Primacort Injection is also used for the regulation of steroidal hormone levels during surgeries.
Primacort Injection is used to relieve swelling and inflammation of joints and soft tissues associated with arthritis.
Primacort Injection is used to manage an acute episode of asthma.
Primacort Injection is used topically to relieve itching, burning, swelling, and pain of the skin associated with various conditions like eczema, psoriasis, pruritus, etc.
Primacort Injection is used to relieve rectal pain, discomfort, and itching associated with Proctitis, Ulcerative colitis, and hemorrhoids.
