Lamivir Hbv is a nucleoside analogue. It is used in combination with other medications to treat HIV infection. Lamivir Hbv functions by interfering with the growth of the HIV infection.
On using this medication you may experience side effects such as nausea, joint pain, difficulty sleeping, diarrhea, cough, dizziness, swelling of the mouth, headache, reduced appetite, weakness, vomiting, darkening of the urine, numbness, mental/ mood disorders, ear pain, itchiness, sore throat and chest pain. If your reactions persist or worsen over time seek the help of your health care provider right away.
Before using this medication tell your doctor if: you are allergic to any ingredient contained within Lamivir Hbv, you are taking any other medications especially emtricitabine and zalcitabine, you have enlarged liver/ high levels of lactic acid/ abnormal liver functioning/ muscle problems/ kidney problems/ lactic acidosis/ nerve disorder/ pancreas problem, you are overweight, you are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant or are nursing a baby.
The dosage for this medication should be based on your medical history and current condition. The usual dose in adults for HIV infection is about 150 mg twice daily or 300 mg once daily. How To Take
Take Lamivir Hbv medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Lamivir Hbv may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Immune reconstitution syndrome : Lamivir Hbv medicine should be used with caution due to the increased risk of Immune reconstitution syndrome. Report any unusual symptoms to the doctor immediately. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition.
Lactic acidosis : Lamivir Hbv medicine should be used with caution due to the increased risk of Lactic acidosis. Report any unusual symptoms to the doctor immediately. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition.
Hepatotoxicity : Lamivir Hbv should be used with caution in patients with a history of liver disease and active liver disease due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition. Report any unusual symptoms to the doctor immediately. Therapy may need to be discontinued if the patient develops a pronounced hepatotoxicity.
Pancreatitis : Lamivir Hbv may cause pancreatitis. Report any unusual symptoms to the doctor immediately. Therapy may need to be discontinued if the patient develops any signs or symptoms of pancreatitis.
Dosage formulations : Lamivir Hbv formulations for HIV infection and HBV infection may be different and may contain different doses of the active ingredient. These formulations are not interchangeable. Patients are advised to only use the formulation prescribed by the doctor. Any change in the formulation should be done only under the supervision of a qualified healthcare professional.
